Muhammad Eat Rice!

Salam to all. My son, Muhammad doesn't eat rice. I don't know why but he just doesn't consume rice.

I started to give him porridge since he's 7 months old but he stop eating it when he turned 1 year old. So I gave him bread or noodle though sometimes he can manage not to eat. As extra supplement, I gave him Shaklee mealshake, energizing soy protein, multivitamin and vitamin C which he took on alternate days since last year. Maybe he just prefer to drink his own milk.

I persuaded him and told him the benefits of eating because he's 4 years old already. Then suddenly, he surprised me when he agreed to eat rice last week! Alhamdulillah... I'm the happiest mommy on earth when Muhammad had his first spoon of rice last week.

I prepared chicken soup for him as he loves soup very much. I just wonder, I hate soup when I was pregnant with him before. What a surprise! So I tried to prepare different kind of soup for him. Hopefully my initiatives may help to improve his diet. I want him to have a healthy diet and have a better eating.

My daughter Iman is better in eating. That little princess can consume anything that we eat including whatever food that her grandmother eat. Hihihi...

Amin!

Honesty in Life

Salam to all. My day starts great today. Alhamdulillah.
My son, Muhammad wake up as usual and as I bathed him this morning, he looked deep into my eyes and said, "Mummy cantik." I smiled and said, "Thank you, sayang." A sweet, simple statement from my son really blossomed my heart. A child's heart is pure. Very pure. It's our responsibility to teach them and guide them in their life.
I've a colleague from other department whom I seldom met. But everytime we met, he'll keep on telling me that he likes the happiness on my face and my smile. He asked me, "Are you always happy like this every day?". I said, "Yes, and I'll give my best to stay happy every day."
I'm just an ordinary person. Like others, I also felt depressed, demotivated, unhappy, etc. But I'm always happy because of my two lil' ones and my family. They cheer up my life. I guess, the other reason is also our intention in life. Intention or "niat" in life is very important and it must be supported with honesty. Honesty is "jujur".
Jujur dalam Islam ialah "shiddiq" iaitu jujur dan benar. Islam menggalakkan umatnya bersikap jujur. Imam al-Ghazali menggariskan sifat "shiddiq" ke dalam 6 jenis:
1. Jujur dalam lisan atau bertutur kata
2. Jujur dalam berniat atau berkehendak
3. Jujur dalam bercita-cita atau berazam
4. Jujur dalam menepati cita-cita
5. Jujur dalam beramal atau bekerja
6. Jujur dalam beragama
Being honest in work is very important. I met people who are very serious in work, but rarely smile and difficult to mingle around. My work involved a lot of communication with people. So I learn how to cope up with different types of attitude. Well, sometimes it really irritates me seeing people who are sweet talker but restless at work. "Sindir menyindir" is common to me. I'm used to it already. Insya Allah! I'll try to avoid all these craps.
So, I'll start my day with my prayer to Allah S.W.T. and a smile. A smile to my loving hubby, my two lil' ones and my parents. I want to have an honest life with my family. So I'll make sure I'm happy at work too.
Mmm... apart from that, balance in emotion and health is important too. I've a friend who is very moody and I can feel her mood swing almost every day. Sometimes, I just wonder how she can cope up being moody every day.
Be cautious with food intake, consume supplement, have enough sleep and enjoy life! Life is very short. I pray to Allah S.W.T. every day to make me stay healthy and live longer so that I manage to watch my two lil' ones grow and to spend my lifetime with my loving hubby. Insya Allah!

Bersangka Baik Sesama Insan

Salam to all. I attended a course conducted by my college last Monday. A one solid day course and full of knowledge sharing by the speakers. There's one session which attracted me so much. It's regarding "Bersangka baik sesama insan". It really captured my attention as my loving hubby always remind me about this. Well, I'm just a human being. Sometimes I tend to have certain perception on certain people.
For example, it really irritates me if suddenly someone approach me to sell something. Or a car suddenly overtake my car. I started to think wisely. The seller is just selling something. It's his or her way to "mencari rezeki". I can reject nicely if I don't want to buy. The driver of the car maybe have an emergency. Why should I bother if that driver overtake my car? The most important thing now is I want to get rid of perception in my mind. Insya Allah! My loving hubby always tell me that if we keep on having perception on people, we cannot live in harmony on this world. Yes, he's absolutely right.
BERSANGKA BAIK SESAMA INSAN (SYEIKH ABDUL QADIR JAILANI)

My Entry for February

Salam Maulidur Rasul to everyone. Today is the last day of February year 2010. At least I got my entry for this month. I've been busy with my work lately and had no time to update my blog.

Syukur Alhamdulillah. Thanks to my dear friends and my students. They kept on commenting on why there was no update on my blog.

Our college had visitors from MQA mid this month which was a few weeks back. They were auditing our School of IT programmes. I've been doing preparations since last month and work became so hectic. Next week is ISO audit and MOHE visit is in another two weeks.

When work is the stress factor, I have my own way to handle it:

1. I love to try new place to eat. Last month, my hubby and I went to Pullman Hotel to try their dim sum. Yummy! (But I still love dim sum at Quality Hotel, KL)

2. I'll go shopping of course!

3. I love to spend time with my two lil' ones.

Iman's Birthday Celebration

Salam. This is last minute plan. I actually plan to celebrate her birthday weeks ago BUT time is so limited. Suddenly I feel I want to do it this coming Saturday. Mmm... just a small one actually.

First, I need to order her birthday cake. My choice is Taka Bakery, Jalan Satok. I'll order a custom made cake for her.

Second, the food selection. What's on the my list? Fried meehoon, fried chicken, fried vegetables, fried... etc. Everything is fried? NO NO NO... high cholesterol lah... will decide tonight.

Third, my lil' princess dress. Ooppss... I nearly forget my lil' prince. I'll buy new dress and new shirt for both of them. Will ask my loving hubby to take lots and lots of pictures for those two rascals.

Fourth, who are my guests? A small celebration means small invitations. My sisters, brothers n their families, my in-laws' families, my students, and a few of my good friends.

Lastly, what else?

Happy Birthday to Iman Najiha! Mommy luv u so much...

Motivating The Unmotivated

Salam. How's everyone? It's a wonderful day for me as my lil' Muhammad is behaving obediently these two weeks. He wakes up as early as 6 am and enjoy his moments with me as I prepared him for kindergarten every morning. But today, I have a feeling that stucked in my heart. I feel my students are very unmotivated lately.

I guess, transferring from a school life to a college life really shaken their personality and affect their confidence level. Being a college student requires high commitment and smart thinking. Most of them came from a different world compared to mine. Of course, they've been shaped by family background and life experiences that might be a bit different than college life. I always think of them. What is going on with their social life, what do they have in their thinking, do they know that I exist in the class with them, apart from all their problems that they carried together in my class.

I want to believe that my class is being cherished by them. I hope so. As I can tell the level of understanding and appreciation of my class by just looking at their plain faces. Maybe they thought teaching is easy for us. But they do not know we struggled very hard to please our students by sharing knowledge and throwing all possibilities to cheer up our class.

I just wish they are active learners in class. I keep on saying, "Please ask if you don't understand." Looks like I'm talking to the wall again. I wish they'd come to me, seeking for assistance, and view every opportunity as a chance for them to improve. Aren't they curious on the subject matter that I teach? Or my teaching is too good that they understand every word I express in my class? Well, I can't blame them. Being a student is not easy as well.

I suddenly remember the 3c's from Napoleon history. "I Come, I Challenge, I Conquer." It's best if we could adapt ourselves in a new situation or new environment. The longer we take, the suffer we are.

Ibu Kool Bapa Hebat

Salam. Today is the last day of my holiday. Student registration will start tomorrow. And my hectic schedule will start all over once again.

I love READING! Perhaps my book collection comprising a lot of topics which can actually allow me to create my own personal library (I wish so...). I love visiting bookstores and became a member of every bookstore that I visited, is a MUST to me.

One of the latest books I bought was "Ibu Kool Bapa Hebat", written by Jamilah Samian. What makes me so interested to read it? I want to upgrade my knowledge and specifically because of my lil' Muhammad... He's a very active kid, seldom sleeps during daytime, he eats noodle or bread but NO RICE, he loves coloring, and I wish I can soften him more. I read this book before I go to sleep every night and hope to practice what I've read in my real life. I would recommend everyone to read this book. It makes me think and realize a lot. I learn to appreciate even a little thing that happen everyday.
"Dalam kehidupan ini, banyak pengajaran berharga yang berlaku tanpa kita sedari. Hadapilah kesukaran dengan tabah."

Happy New Year!

Salam. Happy New Year to all!

It's the beginning of year 2010. A great year for us. My 8th year of wedding, baby Iman is 1 year old (which means I've breastfeeding her for 1 solid year too), lil' Muhammad is 5 years old, and this is my last year to pay for my beautiful, stunning Toyota Ipsum! YEAHHH!!! (Jadi orang kayalah aku tahun depan... hihihi...)

Talking about new resolution makes me think about revolution. Revolution? Maybe I should make a revolution in my life this year. I have a list of new resolution BUT... I'm thinking right now. I want to do revolution. In Latin, revolution means "a turn around". But it's not the political revolution. Hihihi... Just a small revolution in my life this year.

Sarawak FM Interview

I had a radio interview at Sarawak FM on Tuesday, 22 December 2009. It's a 30 minutes session, a short one actually. Just to introduce our School of IT & Communication and courses that we offered. My partner was Mr. Lee, he represented School of Electric & Electronic Engineering. I arrived at RTM Kuching at 4.45 pm. They had a high security system there and this was the only picture I can captured. Our session began at 5.30 pm. It's a splendid experience for me as that was the first time I heard my lovely voice live on radio (hihihi...). When I got home, my loving hubby surprised me with the recording he made for me. Thanks sayang!
